Do you see what I see?

Weekly update 1/26/2020 to 2/1/2020 #1

"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" is a line from The Wizard of Oz. That is NOT my approach to serving as Mayor of Seymour. I get to see the amazing things our community has going on, and I want you to as well.

The week started off with a proclamation at St. Ambrose and a chance to talk with the future leaders of our community. Later that day, we were joined by Scout Troop 529 at the council meeting. I appreciate them leading the Pledge of Allegiance and invite any other youth groups that are interested in participating in a council meeting to reach out to me.

The day after council I took the opportunity to visit local radio stations to share with the community (1390 AM after 1st meeting and 96.3 after the 2nd). Thank you to both station owners for the chance to pull the curtain back.

Spent a big part of this week working on economic development and visiting employers with Jim Plump. For me one of the exciting parts is connecting the dots and working on the future of our area.

Marketing the good story of Seymour is part of my role. Stepping in front of the camera, be it for a video application or area news, is a chance to talk about all that I see and what I hope you see as well.

We all have a chance to work on this next piece. Start a conversation with friends, neighbors, and whomever needs to be included. We are better together, and I spent several hours building bridges that will help individual neighborhoods and our area as a whole succeed.

That is my week in review with a bookend visit to the Nation's largest gymnasium for some SHS basketball and the best pep band in the land.
