Leadership and Learning

JFK wrote “Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.”

During my time on City Council, I have made it a point to try and learn as much as possible about the different jobs our city employees do every day. That can mean doing a ride-along with Seymour Police Department, breaking up a beaver dam with Water Pollution Control, or throwing trash with the crew from the Department of Public Works. Sometimes it is also as simple as asking questions of how a process works via email or a phone call. This has given me a chance to see where we need to make small adjustments that will lead to big benefits for citizens and employees alike.  I can’t thank everyone enough for the insight they have given me over the years. While serving as mayor, I look forward to continuing to learn and taking what I have learned and applying it to improving Seymour for all that live and work here.
