Meet Mayor Matt
A brief introduction to Mayor Matt. I am a father, husband, and mayor of Seymour. Prior to serving as mayor, I was a business owner, executive director, dispatcher, instructor, sponsor, councilman, and so much more. Those, however, are all just titles given to me from different areas of my life. I am and will always just be Matt. I am a father of three beautiful daughters my oldest attends Ball State University and my younger two attend Seymour public schools. I married my high school sweetheart, Zabrina, in 2000. Together, we started B2 Bikes & Boards in 2003 and closed in 2019 shortly before starting to serve as mayor. Prior to that I was blessed with a boss who encouraged me to be involved with my community during my teens and early twenties. I was the executive director of Read Jackson County / Plaza Latina, which is a United Way agency on literacy. I was a dispatcher for a local trucking company. I taught indoor cycling at Fitness 1440 here in Seymour and enjoyed helping others get a good cardio workout. For several years I was a club sponsor at Seymour Middle School with the Skateboard Club and Toastmasters Club. Since being elected to council in 2015 I have gotten to be called Councilman. Then in 2019, I was elected mayor, and even with all that I am still just Matt. I am not afraid to work for the world that I want to see my children grow up in, and with your help, I will get to continue to focus my energy on it full time while continuing to serve as Mayor of Seymour. Now that you have learned a little about me I can’t wait to learn about you.
Competent
Matt’s experience as a small business owner and a member of the Seymour City Council has given him the knowledge, understanding, and tools to lead Seymour in the right direction.
Consistent
Matt has a proven record of hard work and dedication as a member of the Seymour City Council. He has always voted to put the interests of Seymour’s citizens first.
Caring
Matt and his wife Zabrina have lived in Seymour their whole lives and chose to raise their family here. Matt cares about his neighbors and will always make choices that improve the lives of all who live in Seymour.
